We welcome membership to the Toowoomba Photographic Society to anyone with a keen interest in photography. You don’t have to be a professional photographer to become a member of TPS. So if photography is your passion, then come along join us and talk with like-minded people.

Aims

  • To promote the general advancement of photography and its applications
  • To facilitate the exchange of information and ideas on photography
  • To provide a forum in which members may increase their photographic knowledge and skills
  • To arrange Club meetings, field days & other events to build member’s knowledge, skill and confidence with respect to photography
  • To provide members with links to state, national and international photographic bodies
  • To hold and promote exhibitions of photography

By becoming a member of the Toowoomba Photographic Society you get access to the following resources and equipment:

  • Access to industry professionals with endless knowledge to share helping your photography get to the next level.
  • Access to our monthly newsletter.
  • Practical training in the use of the equipment.
  • Various speakers and demonstrations providing helpful information for photographers.
  • Social interaction with like-minded people and meeting members from affiliated clubs.
  • A forum for members to sell or purchase equipment via the club Facebook group.
  • Opportunities to have your photographic work to be publicly displayed.
  • Mentoring in one-on-one advice for photography.
  • Being informed of current photographic trends, exhibitions, tours and workshops.
  • Once trained, access to the club’s equipment including: Flashes, triggers, backdrops, screen calibrators and other photographic equipment.
  • Monthly competitions where your photography is reviewed by accredited judges who’ll provide you with feedback on your images to help you improve, or confirm your skills. .
  • Access to members only part of our competition website.

If you are wanting to put in a membership application please start with Section A of the form below and it will be sent through to the committee for processing. Once your application has been approved, you will receive instructions on how to pay and register to our competitions.

    Note: Membership fee entitles the member to attend all meeting nights, a $2 door fee is payable each physical meeting.

Toowoomba Photographic Society Members Code of Conduct:

In the pursuit of a respectful and inclusive environment, all members of the TPSI community are expected to adhere to a comprehensive Code of Conduct. This guide outlines the ethical standards, responsibilities, and prohibitions that define acceptable behaviour within the organization. Members must understand and commit to upholding these principles to foster a positive and harmonious community. Failure to comply may result in sanctions, as outlined in this Code and in alignment with the TPSI Constitution.

Members of the Toowoomba Photographic Society are required to have an understanding of the constitution of the Society. The constitution can be found here – please ensure you review the constitution and code of conduct as set out below before proceeding:

Principles and Ethical Guidelines

Members are required to embody the following principles and ethics during their involvement in TPSI activities:

  1. Honesty, Impartiality, and Conscientiousness:
    • Conduct oneself with honesty and integrity in all interactions.
    • Approach TPSI activities impartially, avoiding biases or unfair treatment.
    • Act conscientiously, considering the impact of decisions on individuals and the community.
  2. Natural Justice:
    • Ensure the principles of natural justice are observed in all proceedings.
    • Guarantee fair treatment, impartiality, and the right to be heard in disputes or disciplinary actions.
  3. Ethical Decision-Making:
    • Make decisions guided by ethical considerations and moral principles.
    • Uphold a high standard of moral conduct in all TPSI-related matters.
  4. Reporting Wrongdoing:
    • Obligation to report genuinely suspected wrongdoing, fraud, corrupt conduct, or maladministration to the TPSI Committee.
    • Encourage a culture of accountability and transparency within the organization.

Responsibilities

  1. Dignity and Respect:
    • Members and guests must avoid actions that harm the dignity or self-esteem of individuals within the TPSI community.
    • Show respect regardless of differences in race, origin, religion, age, sex, orientation, marital status, family status, disability, political opinion, or economic status.
  2. Constructive Communication:
    • Focus comments or criticism appropriately, refraining from public criticism of members or event organizers.
    • Treat individuals fairly and reasonably in all communications.
  3. Compliance and Safety:
    • Adhere to TPSI rules, regulations, and policies set by the Committee.
    • Avoid activities or behaviour jeopardizing the health and safety of individuals.
    • Respect public or private facilities provided for TPSI events, refraining from causing damage.
  4. Presentation Etiquette:
    • Prevent unwanted interruptions during formal presentations by refraining from using personal electronic devices, including mobile phones.
  5. Property Handling:
    • TPSI property must not be removed from DeMolay House without explicit written agreement from the TPSI Committee.
    • Include details on storage location and retrieval methods for any borrowed material.
  6. Harassment and Bullying Prevention:
    • Members must not engage in any behaviour constituting harassment or bullying.
    • Harassment includes offensive, abusive, racist, degrading, malicious, or sexist comments or conduct.
    • Bullying encompasses verbal, physical, social, or psychological abuse.
  7. Examples of Harassment or Bullying:
    • Written or verbal abuse, threats, or inflammatory remarks.
    • Unwelcome remarks, jokes, comments, or taunts.
    • Leering, suggestive gestures, or obscene behaviour.
    • Practical jokes causing embarrassment or awkwardness.
    • Any situation intentionally created to cause embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule.
    • Uninvited physical contact or assault.
    • Retaliation against those reporting violations.
  8. Sexual Harassment Prohibition:
    • Members must not engage in any behaviour constituting sexual harassment.
    • Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual comments, advances, or conduct of a sexual nature.
  9. Types of Sexual Harassment:
    • Sexist jokes, sexually offensive material, or degrading words.
    • Unwelcome sexual flirtations, advances, or propositions.
    • Persistent unwanted contact, compliments, or flirting.
    • Requests for sexual favors or suggestive comments.
    • Leering, staring, or unwanted physical intimacy.
    • Displaying sexually offensive material or transmitting offensive content.
  10. Reporting Violations:
    • Members are obligated to report any violations of the Code of Conduct in writing to the TPSI Committee.
    • Prompt reporting facilitates timely action and resolution of issues.
